Oklahoma best-selling author passes away from brief illness

TULSA, Okla. (KJRH) – A popular Oklahoma author has died.

According to a family spokesperson, Billie Letts passed away after a brief illness.

Letts was from the Tulsa area and was a former teacher at Southeastern Oklahoma State University.

Her first novel, “Where the Heart Is,” sold over 3 million copies worldwide and even made it to the top of the New York Times paperback bestseller list.
