NORMAN, Okla. – A Norman native and beloved movie star is going to be laid to rest without a lot of fanfare.

Family and friends say they will not be attending a memorial service for the late James Garner.

A message was posted to Garner’s official Facebook fan page, stating that his family is honoring his wishes to not have a funeral or memorial service.

His daughter says he didn’t like the idea of people making a fuss over him.

A bronze statue of Garner in Norman has been a place for his fans to visit and leave flowers.

The actor died on July 19 at the age of 86.
