NEW YORK – Vizio is recalling thousands of flat screen televisions because the devices could cause injuries.

Vizio says it is recalling its 39 and 42-inch E-series flat screen televisions because of a faulty stand.

The company says the stand assembly can fail and cause the television to tip over unexpectedly.

Vizio has received 51 reports of the recalled televisions tipping over.

Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.

However, the company says the recall is necessary because “injury to users is possible.”

The recall impacts about 250,000 televisions sold at Best Buy, Target, Wal-Mart and other retail stores nationwide.
