OKLAHOMA CITY – Do you and your furry companion love to run?

Here’s your chance to unleash your canines!

The Oklahoma City branch of Heartland Weimaraner Rescue will host their fifth annual ‘Ghost Runners 5K Dog Run’ at Lake Hefner’s Stars and Stripes Park on October 26, 2014 at 2:00 p.m.

Participants are encouraged to bring their dogs to the event and will be allowed to complete the entire run with them as long as the dogs are leashed and runner-friendly. Heartland will allow one dog per participant, and requires that all dogs be on leashes at all times, current on vaccinations, not be in heat, and not be aggressive.

The race will include a one mile fun run prior to the 5k, which will start at 1:00 p.m.  Children up to age 12 are invited to participate in the fun run and will have the opportunity to win prizes.

Dogs are also allowed in the fun run.

Local area animal groups and businesses are also invited to attend the event.

A designated area will be set up for booths from noon – 4 p.m.  In addition to the booths there will be numerous activities, including pet/owner costume contests, micro-chipping and a large kid’s area with face painting, a moon bounce and crafts.  Money raised from the ‘Ghost Runners 5K Dog Run’ will be used to assist Heartland with medical and foster expenses for dogs in the program.
