Oklahoma dentist accused of exposing patients to HIV, Hepatitis loses license

UPDATE: In the meeting on Friday, Dr. Scott Harrington’s attorney surrendered Harrington’s license on the doctor’s behalf.

Harrington was not in attendance.

TULSA, Okla. – The Tulsa dentist and oral surgeon accused of exposing his patients to disease due to filthy conditions in his clinic could lose his dentist license Friday.

Investigators say Dr. W.  Scott Harrington possibly exposed up to 5,000 patients with diseases including HIV, Hepatitis B and C.

The Oklahoma State Department of Health reported that 77 people tested positive for hepatitis C, five for hepatitis B and four for HIV.

According to Tulsa World, The Oklahoma State Board of Dentistry will hold a meeting Friday to discuss and take action on Harrington’s permanent surrender of his license of practice.

The board has been working for more than a year to reach a settlement with Harrington.
