EDMOND, Okla. – A federal judge has denied a request for a mental evaluation for a teenager accused of abusing children while on a mission trip.

Matthew Durham is accused of sexually abusing children in Kenya while on a mission trip.

He has pleaded not guilty.

Prosecutors wanted a psychiatric evaluation done to determine Durham’s state of mind at the time of the alleged crimes.

Durham’s attorneys did not want that evaluation.

On Monday, a judge ruled there is not enough evidence for an exam.
