DUNCAN, Okla. – Runners are remembering Austrailian athlete Christopher Lane who was shot to death in Duncan.

Those participating will hit the ground with a Fun Run and 5K Saturday, September 13, at the Duncan Golf and Tennis Club.

The venue is a change from last year’s inaugural event, which was at Halliburton Park.

Although the events start and finish at the Duncan Golf and Tennis Club, participants are encouraged to park at the First United Methodist Church, 2300 N. Country Club Rd. Shuttle services will be provided.

Early registration is through September 8 and is $30 for the 5k and $20 for the 1 Mile Fun Run. T-shirts are guaranteed for early registrants. Day-of registration is $40 for the 5k and $30 for the 1 Mile Fun Run.

According to run organizers, funds raised will be used to fund a memorial scholarship in his name.

Last year’s event raised enough money to provide $7,000 in scholarships to eight Stephens County students.
