DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. -  A hit list was discovered at a middle school in South Carolina, and parents are on edge.

20 names were on that list, 14  of those were names of students at  DuBose Middle School.

Authorities say a faculty member found the list and they began reviewing surveillance video.

One mom says her 12-year-old son's name was on that list.

"When I answered the phone she said is this Miss Bullock. I said yes. She said this is the principal, Ms. Caldwell at Dubose Middle School.  Let me first tell you Matt is ok and not in trouble  But we did find a hit list of students that a student wanted kill and Matthew was on that list," said Beth Bullock, parent.

Bullock said the list was found on Friday, but she wasn't told until Tuesday.

"I don't understand. My issue is that everyone as soon as possible should have been notified. Every single parent of every single kid at that school should have been notified," said Bullock.

The school district says the student responsible was identified and has admitted to writing the list, but says it was not meant as a threat.

The school says the student in question has been suspended until a hearing.
