JAY, Okla. – The Department of Public Safety says a man is dead after a tragic accident involving a tractor.

Around 12:25 p.m. on Saturday, authorities were called to a home one mile south of the town of Jay.

When officers arrived to the home, they found 76-year-old Joel Dearrington.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital but died from massive damage to his legs, arms and internal injuries.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Dearrington was showing his wife how to operate the couple’s John Deere tractor with the rotary cutter.

According to the report, the clutch on the tractor was released for an unknown reason and Dearrington was run over by the tractor’s tire and the brush hog.
