UPDATE: Authorities say the alleged shooter, Shane Rhea, is still listed in critical condition.

Officials say they removed a semi-automatic handgun from Rhea after he was shot by police.

Sgt. Cody Kolesch and Sgt. Grant Brooks were both treated and released from the hospital.

Officials say Sgt. Kolesch was shot in the arm and was hit in the chest. Fortunately, the bullet became lodged in his bulletproof vest so he was not injured from that shot.

Sgt. Brooks was shot in the arm, as well. That bullet also hit an artery.

However, he has also been treated and released.

The woman who was shot and killed has been positively identified as Samantha Monden.

The un-named victim that was shot in the back in the room is identified as 57-year-old Randell Williams.

Police say narcotics were located on Williams, but criminal charges are pending.

Williams remains in the hospital in critical condition.

OKLAHOMA CITY - Investigators are trying to unravel a bizarre scene that involved several officers and suspects being shot near a motel in south Oklahoma City.

According to Captain Dexter Nelson, officers received a call of a female being held against her will at the Plaza Inn, located near S.E. 44th St. and I-35 Service Rd., around 3:40 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities say the woman claimed she was being held captive and the people holding her were trying to kill her.

An eyewitness at the scene said he saw two officers knock on a door at the Plaza Inn when the gunfire broke out.

The witness says someone inside the room shot  the police officers before three people ran out of the room.

Capt. Nelson says there were approximately five or six people in the room and the officers were "met by gunfire."

Officials say Sgt. Cody Koelsch and Sgt. Grant Brooks were both shot and another officer fired multiple rounds into the room.

Authorities say some of the alleged suspects were able to make it outside of the motel to the I-35 Service Rd.

Capt. Nelson says one of the alleged suspects had a woman and was using her a human shield as they made their way along the northbound lanes of I-35.

Officers stopped the suspect, who has since been identified as 39-year-old Shane Leon Rhea.

Nelson says that is when Rhea shot the woman and the officer, in turn, shot Rhea.

In all, two of the alleged suspects were shot by police.

According to EMSA officials, those suspects were taken to a nearby hospital.

Both officers were also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The woman, who was shot by a suspect, reportedly died at the scene.

Rhea is being charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping, four counts of shooting with intent to kill, assault and battery with a deadly weapon and pointing a firearm.

Police also arrested two other suspects who have been identified as 30-year-old Bonnie Boen and 29-year-old Erik Patterson.

Boen was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant out of Seminole County.

Patterson was arrested on a city warrant for failure to appear and a seat belt violation.

Homicide investigators are still working to determine if a kidnapping actually occurred.

All officers who discharged their weapons were placed on routine administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

Officials are asking anyone who witnessed the incident call the police at (405)297-1126.
