OKLAHOMA CITY – A man accused of killing a woman nearly 40 years ago learns his fate.

Today, a judge sentenced Thomas Levering to life behind bars for the murder of Jerry Ann Watson.

The 63-year-old was found guilty last month of killing Watson in 1975.

In December of that year, her body was found strangled to death in a wooded area along N. Rockwell Ave.

The case went cold until two years ago, when prosecutors used fingerprints from the victim’s car and DNA evidence to tie the crime to Levering.

Levering is already serving several life sentences for a long history of rapes and sexual assaults.

Today’s sentence is his sixth life term.

The sentences will be served consecutively.
