ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Police say some wild coyotes helped them track down a wanted man.

Authorities say 21-year-old Daniel Rice was in police custody in Iowa but escaped from a hospital after receiving treatment for a heart problem.

Officials say he was wearing only a hospital gown, which came off as he ran away.

Police say Rice eventually called 911 to report 30 coyotes were chasing him in an Illinois nature preserve.

When authorities arrived, they recognized Rice because of the pacemaker in his chest.

Rice is back in jail and facing charges of theft, burglary and criminal mischief.
