Update: Gas line catches fire in northwest Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY – Emergency crews were called to reports of a gas leak in northwest Oklahoma City Tuesday night.

Initial reports indicate a contractor was working near Highway 66 and Sara road when they cut a four-inch gas line.

An Oklahoma Natural Gas crew also responded to the scene to help repair the line with a clamp when it caught fire.

Witnesses say the flames shot around 30 feet in the air.

Crews were able to get the gas line shut off around 10:15 p.m.
