ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A group of 10 people banded together to stop an attack on a 76-year-old woman outside a grocery store in Florida.
One of the Good Samaritans is getting extra attention for going above and beyond.
“What if that was my grandmother?” asked Kendrick Taylor.
Taylor, a Navy veteran, was headed to the gym when he saw 76-year-old Rosemary Carleton being attacked.
“She was screaming for help. That’s when I went over to help her,” he said.
Taylor ran straight at him, never considering the danger.
“When I looked down, I didn’t know if he had a knife or gun . But I just saw the lady, she was so old. And when he threw her down, she was so fragile and I knew she needed help,” Taylor said.
The attacker ran away from Taylor and two others, but didn’t make it very far.
“When I finally got my hands on him, I just apprehended him and I told some local people to call the police, and they got here and I kept him down,” he said.
In court, 23-year-old John Desjardin, who is already on probation, was charged with attempted robbery and battery on a person over 65.
“He definitely should face some type of jail time. He has to know what he did was very wrong,” Taylor said.
