Oklahoma veterans’ affairs official hospitalized after seizure

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma’s first female Oklahoma Secretary of Military and Veterans’ Affairs is currently in the hospital.

NewsChannel 4 spoke with Maj. Gen. Rita Aragon via phone on Wednesday.

Aragon says she suffered some type of seizure on Monday and was admitted to an area hospital.

On Tuesday, she suffered two other seizures.

At this time, Aragon says doctors do not know what caused the seizure.

She says she is undergoing a variety of medical tests.

Gen. Aragon served as the first female commander of the Oklahoma Air National Guard, the first female to command a state’s Air National Guard and the first female of Native American ancestry to become a general officer, according to the Oklahoma Department of Veteran Affairs.
