LONDON – A popular British actor announced his engagement on Wednesday in a very old-fashioned way.

A small notice in the London Times announced Benedict Cumberbatch’s engagement to his girlfriend, Sophie Hunter.

Hunter is a 36-year-old Oxford graduate, actress and theater director.

The short announcement read, “Mr. B.T. Cumberbatch and Miss S.I. Hunter; the engagement is announced between Benedict, son of Wanda and Timothy Cumberbatch of London, and Sophie, daughter of Katharine Hunter of Edinburgh and Charles Hunter of London.”

Cumberbatch is well-known for his role as Sherlock Holmes in the BBC series ‘Sherlock.’

His performance as Alan Turing in “The Imitation Game” is already being discussed as Oscar-worthy.
