SANDY, Utah – A sense of great relief filled a Utah neighborhood Friday after police arrested a man who they say broke into a home, grabbed a 5-year-old girl out of her bed and took her outside before being stopped by the girl’s stepfather.

Police say 48-year-old Troy Morley entered the house, went through several rooms and then entered the basement where he picked up the 5-year-old girl and attempted to kidnap her.

The girl’s parents woke up when they heard their front door opening.

According to the girl’s stepfather, he rushed outside and approached the man, who then dropped the girl and ran.

Police and K9 units were able to locate the suspect as he attempted to enter a second home.

The girl’s family say they have never seen Morley before.

Morley was arrested and booked on charges of child kidnapping, burglary, trespassing and resisting arrest.
