FISHER, Ind. – Sgt. Joe Johnson survived a tour in Afghanistan, but did not come home completely unscathed.

According to Daily Mail, he suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder and rode motorcycles for the rush.

Tragically, he suffered a spinal cord injury in a motorcycle accident after returning to American soil.

Johnson cannot feel anything below his chest and is confined to a wheelchair.

When he met Michelle, he realized that he wanted to do the impossible.

At their wedding reception, Joey surprised Michelle by joining her on the dance floor without his wheelchair.

Johnson and his friends created a harness that would support his weight and allow him to stand for their first dance.
