FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots are apologizing for a “regrettable tweet.”
Earlier today, the team asked fans to retweet a message about their one million followers.
Anyone who retweeted the message could receive a digital Pats jersey with their personal Twitter handle in place of the name.
According to Boston.com, this led to the team tweeting out a racial slur, which was deleted an hour after it was posted.
After realizing what happened, the New England Patriots sent out an apology tweet.
