OKLAHOMA CITY – Over $12,000 has been raised to provide Oklahoma K9’s with ballistic vests.

Officials say the Oklahoma City Police Department’s nine K9’s have been awarded ballistic vests thanks to the nonprofit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., A Breed Apart Clothing, and 5-year-old Taye Stark of Oklahoma.

The three groups joined efforts to help provide vests for the Oklahoma City Police dogs in memory of K9 Kye, who was killed in the line of duty.

All vests will be embroidered with the quote, “In Memory of K9 Kye, Oklahoma City Police Department.”
