OKLAHOMA CITY - One woman is dead after police say her husband shot her by mistake during a home invasion overnight.
41-year-old Erin Glasson was found dead inside her home in the 8700 block of NW 80th St. shortly around 3:10 a.m. Wednesday.
Her husband, 33-year-old Kinney Glasson told police he woke up to find an intruder in their bedroom who was moving toward the couple.
"At that point, he retrieved his pistol and that was when he fired a shot and accidentally hit his wife," MSgt Gary Knight said. "That's the story that he told the officers at the time."
Glasson did not have a good suspect description because it was dark, Knight said.
He was described as a large man wearing a dark hoodie.
Police searched for the suspect, but have since called off the search.
Investigators are still going over the evidence at the scene.
"Mr. Glasson is in the process of being interviewed," Knight said, "and at this time, that's where everything stands."
Michelle Buck, who lives next door, said Erin Glasson was one of the sweetest people she ever met.
"She would do anything for anyone," she said. "Such a kind heart, loves animals."
Another neighbor, Joe Prio, recalled another home invasion in the neighborhood a few years ago.
"It's a shame," he said. "I know it's a crazy world, you know? You never know (what can happen) two doors from you. I told my wife, she couldn't believe it."
Knight said no arrests have been made and no suspects have been identified.
Anyone with information is urged to call police.
