MUSKOGEE, Okla. – Police are investigating a possible case of child neglect after a 12-year-old Muskogee boy was found dead.

Officials say the boy lived with his aunt and grandmother.

At the time of his death, the 12-year-old weighed 37 pounds was just 3-feet-7-inches tall.

Although the boy had medical conditions, officials believe he was also malnourished.

“The child had prior medical issues but was found to be malnourished and living in poor conditions,” Muskogee Police Department spokesman Cpl. Mike Mahan told KJRH.

Investigators say the home was filled with soiled diapers and animal feces.

They are looking to see if the boy was receiving his medications.

Police say no charges have been filed as they wait for a Medical Examiner’s report.
