OKLAHOMA CITY – A local shelter is seeking donations for Thanksgiving food baskets.

Each year, Jesus House of Oklahoma City distributes hundreds of Thanksgiving food baskets to low-income families.

“The Thanksgiving food basket campaign is a signature event of Jesus House which helps low-income households in Oklahoma City with groceries for Thanksgiving dinner,” said Mike Bateman, Jesus House executive director. “Last year, we distributed more than 1,300 Thanksgiving food baskets in the three days before Thanksgiving. We expect to exceed those numbers this year.”

Items needed for the Thanksgiving food baskets include:

  • frozen turkeys
  • frozen hams
  • boxed stuffing mix
  • chicken broth
  • turkey or chicken gravy mixes
  • instant mashed potatoes
  • canned cranberries or cranberry sauce
  • canned yams
  • canned vegetables
  • Dessert mixes and pie fillings are also appreciated

Donations may be dropped off at the Jesus House offices at 1335 West Sheridan in Oklahoma City until 7:00 pm on Tuesday, Nov. 25.
