Update: Five die in car crash in Northeastern Oklahoma

NOWATA, Okla. – Five people are dead and a child is fighting for their life after a head-on crash Saturday.

The crash happened on Highway 169, just a few miles south of Nowata, Okla., which is in the northeastern part of the state.

Officers say a Chevy Malibu was in the northbound lane, crossed the center line, and hit a Kia Soul head-on.

Four adults were pronounced dead at the scene, and a child died on the way to the hospital.

Another child is in critical condition.

It took rescue crews more than an hour to get the victims out of the wreckage.
