HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – After spending two months with a bucket stuck on its head, a puppy is now safe and has a new family.

The family first spotted a stray German Shepherd mix two months ago.

The puppy had been running around Audra Bohannon’s property in Harris County.

No matter how hard she tried, she simply couldn’t catch him.

Bohannon is certain the dog got into her barn one night and got his nose stuck in a bucket because he was trying to get the food out of it.

“I mean, every night I went to bed thinking about that dog and I really felt bad for him having that on his head,” she said.

Bohannon would get on her four-wheeler and search for the pup every day.

She tried to catch him with nets but it never worked.

Eventually, she gained the puppy’s trust and was able to quickly grab him.bucky

“We got him up here, cleaned him up. He was flea infested, but other than that, he was just a little skiddish,” she said.

They have now named him Bucky, short for Bucket.

The Bohannon family has adopted the stray, who will now permanently stay with them and away from buckets.

“The feeling I had Sunday, waking up Sunday morning and not looking out the window and not looking for that dog, it was a good, happy feeling,” she said.
