With Christmas just around the corner, many parents are scrambling to get all the items on your children’s Christmas lists.

However, experts say there may be a few items that you want to leave on the shelves.

The annual “Trouble in Toyland” report from the U.S. Public Interest Research Group warns parents about choking hazards and other problems that could be harmful to kids.

“We found toy safety sheriff’s badges that exceeded the allowable limit for lead,” said Sujatha Jahagirdar, with the U.S. PIRG.

Toy makers say the report is flawed, saying many of the items already come with warning labels.

“Year after year, PIRG releases these reports and they’re misleading, they’re inaccurate and they unnecessarily alarm parents,” said Rebecca Mond, with the Toy Industry Association.

Still, the report found websites selling toys that have been recalled like small, powerful magnets that can be extremely harmful if swallowed.

A separate study found the annual rate of toy-related injuries has risen 61 percent in the past two decades.

One of the biggest risks involves children is falling from fast-moving scooters.

“Wear a helmet, wear a helmet, wear a helmet,” said Dr. Gary Smith, with the Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
