RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL– A man suspected of murder was arrested Wednesday, told police that he has killed 42 people in the last decade.

NBC news says that 26-year-old Sailson Jose das Graças told reporters at a police station in Rio that he committed homicide for pleasure and the adrenaline rush that came with it.

das Graças told reporters that he would often watch his potential victims for a month before he attacked.

He also says he looked for his victims to be white females with blonde hair, and he preferred strangulation as his method of murder.

“When I didn’t do it I would get nervous, then I would go hunting,” for another victim, das Graças stated.

According to nbcnews.com, experts said das Graças was probably a psychopath looking for media spotlight, and the public was warned that what he said should be taken with heed.

But police said they were convinced by his account and were cross-referencing his confessions with past crime reports.

Authorities say four crimes have already been successfully matched.
