MECHANICSBURG, Penn. -- Christmas came early for families going in to pay off their layaway balances at a Walmart in Pennsylvania on Monday.

A man who wishes to remain anonymous, but says he may be called "Santa B.," wrote a $50,000 check to Walmart to lift the hindrances of holiday shopping expenses off the shoulders of those who might need a little help.

One beneficiary of the random act of kindness told WMPT,

“We were scraping together the last few minutes here to pay for it, we were actually going to have to return a couple things,” says customer Brittny Coeyman, who had $280 remaining on her balance.

The check covered balances for 100 families.

“Just thank you so much, it’s a miracle for not just us but for so many people,” says Coeyman. “And there’s nothing else I could ask for for Christmas.”
