Lawton police search for two people accused of robbery and scam

LAWTON, Okla. – Lawton Police are searching for two people who are allegedly approaching people in parking lots and scamming them.

Police say a suspect approached an elderly gentleman while in WalMart on Sheridan Road and said he was looking for a Walgreens by a McDonald’s.

The victim told him where it was and offered to take the suspect.

Officers say that’s when the suspect then told the victim a story of an inheritance and said he had a lot of money.

Then, the suspect told the victim to pull into a Walgreens parking lot at Sheridan and Ferris to get the attention of another man leaving the store.

According to investigators, the suspect told the victim that he thought he was a nice man and would donate a specific amount to the victim’s church and also to him.

So, the victim drove to the bank, went inside, and withdrew an amount of cash.

When the victim showed the suspect the money, the men grabbed the cash and took off.
