ALBANY COUNTY, N.Y. (WPIX) - Police in New York say they have arrested a relative in connection with the death of a 5-year-old boy.

On Thursday, an Amber Alert was issued after 5-year-old Kenneth White was reported missing.

The boy's cousin, 19-year Tiffany VanAlstyne, told authorities that two masked men had kidnapped White.

A K-9 unit found White's body a few hours later covered in snow.

Sheriff Craig Apple, with the Albany County Sheriff's Office, says the boy's body was taken up the road from where he lived, thrown over a guard rail and covered in snow.

Apple says he was "thrown away like a piece of trash."

His cause of death was ruled asphyxia due to strangulation, along with blunt force trauma.

The sheriff says they are pretty certain of a motive but are not disclosing it at this time.

VanAlstyne is charged with second-degree murder.
