FONTANA, Cali.– A young boy hid a time capsule in the wall of a remodeled home back in 1978. 30 years later, the time capsule was recovered and the owner was found in Austin, Texas.

Robert Wright, now 49, was the 12-year-old boy who left a memento in the wall of a house that his father was remodeling.

He left a note that read, “Hello to whoever finds this. My name is Robert Wright. Today my dad is putting up paneling. Today is November 18th, 1978, 15 till 12:00 noon. I’m 12 years old and a student at Fontana JR. High, 7th grade. I am 5’3, blond hair, hazel eyes. Here is proof of the date. Robert Wright.”

Along with the note, he left some coins, a newspaper clipping, and a McDonald’s scratch off ticket.

The time capsule was recently found during another remodeling of the same house. The discovery was put on the news and extended family of Wright notified him that his keepsake had been found.

“I got up this morning and there were all these Facebook messages, mainly from my cousin and his wife in Houston with messages like, ‘This is you. This is you,'” Wright told ABC News today. “I watched the video link and was like, ‘Oh my gosh. This is me. I am that Robert Wright.’”

Wright admitted that he didn’t think the time capsule would ever be found while he was still alive, let alone be tracked back to him, but he now hopes to have his kids do something similar to leave behind their own legacy.
