PURCELL, Okla. – A case involving a car that was found in an Oklahoma lake remains a mystery.
Last week, officials in Purcell found a car partly submerged in the city lake.
According to the Purcell Police Department, the vehicle was not occupied.
During their investigation, officials discovered the vehicle was actually reported stolen twice more than 20 years ago.
Records show the car was stolen and recovered in Maryland in 1989-1990. It was stolen again in Florida in late 1990.
Officials say how and why the car ended up in Oklahoma remains a mystery.
The Purcell Police Department says they are closing this case.
