The debate rages over the state of Oklahoma’s designation of watermelon as the state vegetable. A Broken Arrow State Senator has written a bill stripping watermelon’s status since says it is a fruit and not a veggie. The watermelon has been recognized as the Sooner State’s official vegetable since 2007. The melon can’t be designated as the state’s fruit since the strawberry holds that title.
