MARIETTA, Ga. (WSBTV) – A Georgia mother is thanking her lucky stars for her 4-year-old rat terrier mix.

“My hero, my daughter’s hero,” Jennifer Jones said.

Jones’ daughter told police she was walking her sisters to school when a man drove past her and stopped.

“She kept walking and when he had jumped out of the truck, he tried to grab her and my dog goes crazy,” Jones said to WSBTV.

The alleged suspect grabbed the girl by the wrist, which is when the family’s terrier mix stepped in.

The dog bit the suspect on the ankle, which was enough to scare him off.

“Who knows what would have happened if the dog hadn’t reacted to that sudden movement by the suspect,” said Sgt. Dana Pierce, with the Cobb County Police Department.
