OKLAHOMA CITY - If you have a new addition to your family in the form of a female cat, you may want to get them spayed soon.

Female cats can get pregnant at just 4-months-old and are able to have three litters a year.

That's why the Central Oklahoma Humane Society teamed up with PetSmart Charities to present "Beat the Heat."

The promotion allows owners to spay their female cats for a discounted rate of just $20.

The society says shelters are often inundated with kittens during the spring, so it is important to spay or neuter your pets when possible.
