STOCKTON, Calif. - A California teenager says he simply wanted a quick meal when he stopped by a Kentucky Fried Chicken.

However, he got a lot more than he bargained for when he started to eat his lunch.

“It looked like a brain to me. I mean, at that point, red flags were kind of raised,” Manuel Cobarubies told FOX40.

He says the organ was alongside his chicken breast, thighs and corn.

"I ended up spitting it in the trash can because I get grossed out by that," he said.

He decided to go to Twitter to get an explanation from KFC.

"I directly mentioned to them and a bunch of people started tagging them, and I guess it kind of raised awareness to them when a lot of people started tagging them in my tweet," he said.

KFC eventually contacted Cobarubies and apologized for the disturbance to the meal.

However, Cobarubies wanted his $4 back for his meal.

"As far as what I paid for my meal because, I mean, my meal didn't sit too well with me. I think that might be it," he said.

After FOX40 contacted KFC, Cobarubies said he received a call from Richard Ramos, an area consultant for KFC.

Ramos said what Cobarubies thought was a brain is actually a kidney or a gizzard.

He said it is safe to eat, but KFC agreed to refund him his $4.
