LOUISVILLE, Ky. – An online community helped make a grandmother’s day.

Every year, Springhurst Pines Senior Living Community holds a Valentine’s Day party for its residents.

This year, ‘Grandma MaryAnn’ was crowned Princess.

Her granddaughter, Jen, posted four photos from the celebration to Reddit on Friday.

“My Grandma was crowned ‘Princess of Springhurst Pines’ tonight for Valentine’s,” wrote Jen. “She asked if I would please show all the ‘Reddit People!”

Grandma MaryAnn, 83, has become a big fan of the sharing site, especially the ‘aww’ subreddit category.

“I go visit her several times a week in her nursing home and we sit there, I pull up Reddit and we call it our ‘Awwww Hour’ where I just show her all of your babies that you submit and it absolutely fills her heart with JOY and wonder,” Jen wrote.

It took Grandma MaryAnn months to figure out exactly how Reddit works.

Eventually, Jen posted a photo of her beloved grandmother to the site, which was seen by thousands of visitors.

“She couldn’t even comprehend it. But, after much explaining on how it works, she relaxed and couldn’t believe that many people ‘would care about an old woman like her,” Jen wrote.

She added that her grandmother was smitten with all the comments.

Within three hours of posting the Valentine’s photos to Reddit, it made its way to the front page.
