NEWBURGH HEIGHTS, Ohio (WJW)- Two police officers in Ohio braved freezing temperatures and snow to save a couple who was stranded on the highway.

Officers Phil Llorada and Sarah Bittner spotted a car pulled to the side of the highway during a snow storm.

When they got closer, they realized the car had a flat tire.

Authorities told WJW the officers knew that it could be hours before a tow truck was able to make it to the couple.

Instead of waiting, they decided to take matters into their own hands.

The officers got down on the ground and changed the flat tire themselves.

"It's really nice these officers went above and beyond the normal call of duty," said Chief John Majoy, with the Newburgh Heights Police Department.
