Oklahoma drug dog discovers 15 pounds of marijuana
CANADIAN COUNTY, Okla. – Authorities say three people were arrested after allegedly being found with several pounds of drugs.
Deputies with the Canadian County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle for an unsafe lane change along I-40 and Morgan Rd.
“The three subjects told my deputies that they had been to Austin and were traveling back to Chicago. It didn’t make any sense that they would be eastbound on Interstate 40 at Morgan Road if they were traveling from Austin,” said Sheriff Randall Edwards.
“Pickles,” a drug detector dog, was called to the scene and alerted officials that drugs were in the car.
Deputies eventually found five packages of marijuana, adding up to 15 pounds, inside suitcases in the trunk.
“This was low-grade dope originating out of Mexico, with a street value of somewhere around five or $6,000, but it still amounts to serious felony arrests and drugs taken off the streets,” Edwards said.
Authorities say 40-year-old Douglas Washington, 33-year-old Charles Searcy and 33-year-old Lakesha Pouncy were arrested on possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
