OKLAHOMA CITY – A man hoping to escape arrest gave Oklahoma City police an alias not knowing it was the name of a wanted man.

Police say a man walked up to talk to them after they pulled over his sister earlier this week.

When officers asked for the man’s name, he told them his name was “Pacoliar Smith.”

After running the name “Pacoliar Smith,” officers found the man had four city warrants.

When the man was placed in the back seat of a police car, he confessed to officers he lied about his name.

He told police he lied because he had another warrant out for his arrest.

He said he didn’t know the name he gave would come back to have warrants.

Officials say the man eventually told police his real name is Samal Brown.

Police discovered Brown had two warrants out of Oklahoma County.

Brown was arrested and booked into the Oklahoma County Jail.
