ALBANY, N.Y. (WNYT) — Tiffany Eichstadt says in all the time she’s breastfed her daughter, Olivia, and her baby sister, Anastasia, she’s never had a problem.

That changed a couple days ago.

The Schenectady, New York mother was out to dinner with 15 people at Golden Corral in Albany. Her 5-month-old was also hungry. She kept her sweater on and began to nurse her at the table when she was approached by a manager.

“She kneeled down and told me I had to go to the bathroom to nurse my child,” Tiffany said.

She says she explained it’s her right as a mother to nurse her child. And she asked the manager a question.

“I asked her would you go eat in the bathroom? Would you eat dinner there? She said no. And I said okay, don’t expect me to go feed my child there.”

The back and forth continued, as Tiffany continued feeding the baby. Tiffany says it created a scene in the restaurant she’s been going to for years. Now she was uncomfortable.

“It got to the point we all decided to up and leave because there was no point to stay anymore to get harassed,” she said.
