DEER CREEK, Okla. — Nearly 600 runners and walkers were treated to near perfect running conditions in the 19th annual “Creek Classic” on Saturday.

The district-wide fundraiser was held at 9 a.m. at Deer Creek Schools, which hosted a fun walk/run, as well as 5k and 10k timed events.

The races even presented a Golden Shoe Award; “the school with the highest PERCENTAGE of STUDENT and STAFF registrations will receive a $2000 bonus. The school site in second place will receive $1000!!”

“In the past, the money raised from this event has helped our schools purchase items like iPads, smart boards, text books, library books, mobile lap top computers, continuing education for teachers, playground equipment, software, sound systems and much more,” the Creek Classic website stated.
