Police: Suspect identified after officer-involved shooting

OKLAHOMA CITY – An investigation is underway after an officer-involved shooting that left the suspect fighting for his life.

According to police, they received a call from a local hospital about an assault with a deadly weapon that left one man with severe head injuries.

The victim told police that he was assaulted in the 3300 block of NW Grand Ave. by 40-year-old Ronnie Calvert.

Police arrived at the address to find Calvert standing in the yard with a handgun.

Two officers shot Calvart after he allegedly refused to drop the weapon and pointed it at officers, according to police.

Both officers were placed on administrative leave pending the investigation.
