Florida’s Liberty County High School students got an unexpected day out of school Tuesday after a truck slammed into the building Monday evening.

Officials say the driver of the vehicle ran a stop sign and crossed the school parking lot before crashing his Ford F-150 into the girls bathroom.

“Approximately 12 inch thick walls with brick in the block,” explained Liberty County School District Superintendent David Summers. “Once it entered, then it, then the truck continued on through the girls restroom and basically did major damage inside, that we’ve had to pretty well gut that whole building.”

Officials say it will take about two to three weeks before the bathroom can be used again, and in that time construction crews have put up a temporary wall to limit access to the area.
