The last time distraught mother Charlott saw her son was Sunday, when he and his girlfriend stopped by.

"He came to the door," says Charlott. "He said 'Momma, all I want you to do is forgive me for all the things I've done.'"

"They just drove off, so I'm thinking everything's cool. I didn't even know they was mad, they just come from church. And then..."

Christian Hillard lay motionless on the shores of the Oklahoma River, moments after allegedly stabbing his pregnant girlfriend, then jumping from the I-35 bridge.

Charlott says she learned about what happened on TV.

"So we immediately start calling, trying to find him and her. And we couldn't find them," said Charlott.

Hillard and the victim have since recovered, but Charlott's family has not.

"This has devastated our family," she says. "If I would of knew Christian had a knife, I would have taken it from him."

Charlott says her son is schizoaffective and has been off his meds for some time, at his girlfriend's request.

"She said she did not want her man on medication. Now that just don't make no sense."

Now, with her son in jail, Charlott worries his symptoms may worsen.

"I want them to help him," she says.
