BETHANY, Okla. – Fire officials are investigating a house fire overnight after a body was found.

Neighbors called 911 about a fire in the 6700 block of NW 24th St. around 12:30 a.m. Monday.

According to officials, a police officer was the first on the scene. That officer attempted to check the home for people, but couldn’t because of heavy smoke.

When fire crews arrived, heavy smoke and flames were shooting from the home, causing them to take a defensive stance.

Once the fire was out, crews discovered the body inside, according to fire officials.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says this deadly fire is now a homicide investigation.
