A building exploded in New York City’s East Village Thursday, hurting as many 30 people, according to The New York Post.
The New York Times is reporting at least two people critically injured in the blast.
Flames engulfed two buildings, one of which housed a sushi restaurant. According to The Post, a diner who was eating there told police he heard an explosion inside the kitchen .
Workers told police they had been working on a gas line inside the kitchen. 911 calls were also made, reporting a possible gas leak just before the blast, a source told The Post.
