BROKEN ARROW, Okla. – After a scare with listeria, a popular ice cream company announced that it will suspend operations at an Oklahoma plant.

Last month, Blue Bell Ice Cream recalled hundreds of packages of ice cream that were made at a facility in Broken Arrow.

On Friday, Blue Bell Creameries announced that it is voluntarily suspending operations at the Broken Arrow plant.

“We will then thoroughly inspect the facility for any possible problems that may have led to the contamination of some of our ice cream products in the past few weeks,” a news release read.

The release says a team of expert consultants will examine the plant to determine where the contamination occurred.

Once the investigation is complete and any issues are resolved, company officials say the plant will reopen.
