OKLAHOMA CITY – Authorities say a man died after he was struck by a vehicle in Oklahoma City.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a man was standing in the middle of the road on I-40 near Western around 5:00 a.m. Wednesday morning.

An EMSA unit made contact with the man and was trying to get him out of the road.

Officials say that is when 26-year-old Larry Johnson was hit by another vehicle.

He died at the scene.

Officials closed off four of the five westbound lanes on I-40 near Penn while crews cleared the scene.

The roadway has since been reopened.

However, drivers can still expect congestion as traffic adjusts.

OHP says commuters should plan extra travel time this morning.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
