HOUSTON, Texas (KPRC) – A man says the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles says he can no longer have his personalized license plate because it has been deemed offensive.

“I had it for more than three years without any problem,” Safer Hassan told KPRC.

Hassan recently received an official letter from the state, saying his plate “370H55V” would be canceled within 30 days.

“People have no idea what that plate means. My closest friends don’t even know,” he said.

While it may seem innocent, the DMV says when the plate is turned upside down, the message is evident.

“They may have just searched similar type plates,” Hassan said.

Hassan says he plans to appeal the state’s decision.
